Open to middle and high school students
(July 10th - August 7th)
In this course, students will explore the 8 fundamental functions and other related concepts --
such as factoring, inverse functions, and properties of logarithms -- that make the backbone of
Algebra 2. Students are expected to have taken Algebra I or an equivalent course prior to taking
this course. Don’t you worry! We will have tons of fun learning these concepts through various
Desmos activities, Kahoots, and explorations. To strengthen understanding of the concepts
taught in class, there will be practice problems available after every class. Students will build a
strong foundation in Algebra through this course to improve success in future, advanced
mathematics courses.
Mondays and Thursdays 12:30-2pm PST
Instructor for Algebra 2
Michael Tu is an incoming freshman at Brown University. He recently graduated from Princess Anne High School, where he was a varsity tennis captain, principal cellist, and president of the Princess Anne Math Honor Society. Above all though, he is a math aficionado, excelling in all of the math courses his high school had to offer and seeking to study computer science and applied mathematics in college. He enjoys sharing his math knowledge with students through tutoring in his free time and has taught with Quarantutors since 2020, including teaching this class last summer. Now, he is stoked to teach another fabulous group of inquiring, young mathematicians in his Algebra 2 summer course. He can’t wait to meet each one of them!
